At GuitarFX we have students aged from as young as 7 right up to some who are in their late 50's, all of whom are at different skill levels. We teach beginners who have never touched a guitar before and never had a music lesson. Some are parents wanting to have lessons for a few months to learn just enough to enable them to play some nursery rhymes to their childrens' kinder or school groups.
All of our students are wanting to gain something different from learning how to play the guitar. Some students aren't really interested in learning any music theory whilst others are wanting to gain as much knowledge as they possibly can.
We use our skills to tailor the course content and devise a strategy to work for each individual student without getting 'bogged-down' in just working from a text-book. After all, if you bought a book from a music store why would you pay us to read it to you and teach you what is already written on the page in front of you. We believe that to fully understand music there needs to be a healthy balance of practical and theoretical study, and that's where our skills set us apart from anyone else out there.
The next points to consider is which style of music you actually want to learn, and what do you want to get out of playing the guitar? - We mould our course content to suit individual lessons with each students' goals in mind. If a student wants to play the guitar in the style of Steve Vai, then we tailor our course content towards his style. Before you know it you can be soloing like Steve Vai... Sounds great, doesn't it?
